Hotel Convento La Magdalena

The Hotel Convent La Magdalena is the hotel chosen for delegates, experts, judges, referees, FISU members and VIPs.

Situated at 10 minutes from Antequera, near the beautiful natural park El Torcal and the Antequera Golf course, the ancient convent of San Pedro de Alcántara is placed in a typical Andalusian landscape.  It was finished in 1584, and rebuilt between 1691 and 1708, in order to enlarge its dimensions.

In 1820, it was disentitled by the state, but it was not until 1846 that the convent was definitely sold in a public auction, in order to be used to carry out agricultural tasks. A few years ago, the convent was still used as an oil mill and as a store for the grain and agricultural machines.

Its latest restoration gave place to the first five-star “Hotel Convent La Magdalena” in Antequera, which benefits from a wonderful natural and architectural environment.

The new hotel offers 21 rooms: 16 double rooms, 4 suites, and a royal suite. All the rooms include bathroom, direct phone, air conditioning, security box, satellite television, paid TV, DVD, mini bar and hair dryer. Besides, the “Hotel Convent La Magdalena” has a buffet restaurant and a restaurant to eat à la carte, as well as a bar to enjoy a calmer atmosphere.

Furthermore, La Magdalena Convent offers a zone dedicated to the celebration of events situated in the church, with a space for more than 250 persons. Next to this building, there is another one in a property of La Magdalena, with a capacity for 800 persons. Everything is situated at the foot of El Torcal, in a natural environment.

The new outdoors zones will give a major quality to the Hotel and will make more comfortable our visitors´ stay. Some of these zones are already working, such as the paddle or the paint-ball courts. It also has two pitches for futsal and football-11, the first tennis clay court in the shire and others activities like tyrolean crossing or climb. For lovers of nature, La Magdalena will arrange the places to practice rambling, horse riding, bicycling and fishing. One of them is called Las Arquillas path, or Las Escarihuelas.
