Nevertheless, the winner of the Championship was Tatiana Morató, who not only dominated every of her female rivals, but who occupied the tenth position in the general classification of the championship (men-women). She was only beaten by the men competitors of the three Irish Universities and the University of Ulster, who won medals in both men’s individual and men’s team competitions. Tatiana Morató got up the podium with Urska Kocjan, from the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia) and winner of the silver medal, and with Michalina Valaskova from the University of Minho (Portugal) winner of the bronze medal.
The following universities were present in the Championship: the Irish Universities of Maynooth and Cork (gold and bronze in the team’s competitions respectively); the University of Ulster, representing the United Kingdom and North Ireland (silver); the Portuguese Universities of Oporto, Algarve and Minho; the Polish University of Economics and the University of Warsaw; the Slovakian Universities of Business and the University of Ljubljana; the Universities of St. Gallen and Lausana representing Switzerland; Darmstadt for Germany and Málaga representing Spain.
The team from Málaga was composed by Tatiana Morató in the women’s category and by Fernando Moreno, Ángel Acha, Fernando Pérez-Bryan, Ignacio Valverde and Andrés Moncayo in the men’s category. The University of Málaga profited of its presence in the European Championship to promote the next World University Golf Championship 2010, which will be held in Antequera at the end of this academic year.
