THE INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY SPORTS FEDERATION (FISU) GIVES ITS APPROVAL TO THE WORLD UNIVERSITY GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP


The director of world university championships, Laurent Briel, and the technical representative of this federation, Raymond Robinson, have both visited during two days Antequera city, as well as the Antequera Golf facilities for the World University Golf Championship 2010, giving their approval to the holding of this competition. When the visits to the facilities and the to the hotels were finished, Laurent Briel, with the director of the Secretariat of Sports of the University of Málaga, Pedro Montiel, and with the international area representative for the world championships, Roberto Outeiriño, visited the Rectorate of the University, where they were welcomed by the vice-rector, Teresa Prieto.
FISU representatives have spent in Antequera two days in order to oversee the world university championship´s organization: the golf course, the sport facilities and the accommodation venues for officials and participants. Yesterday, they visited the Antequera City Hall, were they were welcomed by the major, Ricardo Millán, and the representative of the Málaga County Council of Tourism and Sports, Antonio Souvirón.
After having received the baton in South Africa the last year, the University of Málaga chose the Antequera Golf facilities as the scene for the 13th World University Golf Championship, to be held from June 7 to 11, 2010. Last week, the anthem, the mascot and the official poster of the championship were presented.
